Snježana Prijić - Samaržija

Professor Snježana Prijić-Samaržija (CVGoogle scholarCroatian scientific bibliography)

Principal Investigator. In her research on social epistemology emphasis is placed on the investigating the epistemic values of individual and collective epistemic actors (formal and informal groups, institutions, etc.). In this project she contributes to the investigation of the issues on whether and how deviant sexual behaviours (adultery, cohabitation, prostitution, paedophilia, rape, etc.) can be considered as a deviation from the normal or morally permissible. As mentor and co-mentor she conducts research with collaborators to the project: Inka Miškulin, Andrea Mešanović, and Ana Smokrović.

Elvio Baccarini

Professor Elvio Baccarini (CVGoogle scholarCroatian scientific bibliography)

He investigates the question of the public justification of norms of social morality. His areas of research are public reason as a method for the public justification of the norms of public morality (a norm of social morality is justified when all the eligible individuals have a justification for that norm) and epistemic deliberative democracy. He is involved in the organisation of project conferences and seminars and as mentor of Ernie Gigante Dešković.

Luca Malatesti

Assistant Professor Luca Malatesti (CVGoogle scholarCroatian scientific bibliography)

He investigates the epistemological status of the notions of antisocial personality and psychopathy and the moral responsibility of psychopathy, with particular focus onto the issue of the nature and extent of their impairment of their moral capacities.

Collaborators to the project

Inka Miškulin

Inca Miškulin, psychotherapist and doctoral student (Philosophy) at the University of Rijeka

She investigates the role of epistemic values in the psychotherapeutic communicative act. She is interested in the possible forms of epistemic injustice (hermeneutic and testimonial injustice) that might be experienced by the patient and that are due by stereotyping and prejudices, for example, as in the case of trust deficit.

Ernie Gigante Dešković

Ernie Gigante Dešković, doctoral student (Philosophy) at the University of Rijeka

He investigates democratic decision-making, with special emphasis on the procedures that guarantee avoiding the so-called sovereign evils, such as violations of fundamental human rights and discrimination, within the theoretical tradition started by Stuart Hampshire, a recently developed by Derek Edyvane.

Ana Smokrović

Ana Smokrović, doctoral student (Philosophy) at the University of Rijeka

She investigates the issue of the impact of structural power (institutions, systems) on individuals and the potential injustices that some understanding of the norms and values can have on the individual (via the constitution of the subject, self-understanding, self-esteem, etc.).

Andrea Mešanović

Andrea Mešanović, doctoral student (Philosophy) at the University of Rijeka

She investigates the issue of deviations from rational reasoning and behaviour, which are caused by systematic and predictable irrationality in human behaviour. She collaborates to the research by investigating the (institutional and extra-intuitional) judgments of deviance, from norms of rational behaviour and reasoning, which are caused by prejudices and stereotypes.
